Soccer Online – England Beat Fantasy Football World Cup
England might have failed to win in the true 2010 South African World Cup, but they won the World Cup in a virtual tournament hosted by Football Superstars, this was a massively multi-player game (MMO). Now England football fans still have something to take pride in.
Football Superstars hosts a massively multi-player online football Wold Cup; this year’s victors were the England football team, who in the real world barely managed to get out of the group stages and were stopped by Germany 4-1 – in the virtual world, they took home the cup. The virtual England team bested typical rivals the Germans in the group stages, holding up much better in the virtual world they managed to hold on to a 1-1 draw. The German team then started to lose 2-1 to the Ukraine, knocking them amazingly out of the fantasy football world cup in the group stages, something that would be hard to believe in the real world. England had an effortless way through to the Semi Finals, as they absolutely annihilated Lithuania 9-1 in the Quarters, completely outclassing the team. The Semi Finals saw them play Portugal, a team they possess a history with. The game kicked off with England going on the offense straight away, forging a number of chances throughout the game – in the end the midfield battle was won by the England team and they managed to finish the game with a nice 4-2 win. They then went on to play the Russian team in the World Cup Final, a dangerous team that truly wanted to win this tournament. Unfortunately for the Russians, however, the game got off to a disastrous kickoff for them as England scored within the first minute. Russia soon pulled even though, when the England keeper moved out of his box for a clearance that he managed to mess up, letting Russia intercept and score a goal while the Keeper was still out of position. Luckily, England soon even out the error when they managed to score a similar goal at the opposite end, when a clearance by the Russian keeper was similarly intercepted and ended in the back of the net. Russia put up a respectable fight but England managed to score a few more goals and it seemed the exhausted Russian team was just simply unable to muster the energy or create the opportunities to pull the score even. By 90 minutes, England ended in victory and had happily become the Football Superstars PMC World Cup winners for their first time. Andrew Ruddick, the Community Manager at CyberSports, talked about the event, claiming it was the largest of its kind hosted by Football Superstars, commending how dedicated and organized every team involved in the soccer games were. He stated the level of the games were fantastic, with many really impressive matches and results. He proceeded to thank every single team and person involved in the great event, and gave a very heartfelt congratulation to the winning English team who played well throughout. There may be more tournaments put on later on this year.
For the past few years or so, Antonius Meyer has been a lead commentator on England world cup winners and given his special outlook on the games.
